The team at Audio Designs and Custom Graphics in Jacksonville has put together a list of 11 things you need to know before having your windows tinted. This information will not only save you time, it will help ensure that you choose the right tint film for your application.
#1: Window Tint Looks Great!
Have you ever noticed that most new vehicles in TV commercials have their windows tinted? The contrast between the windows and the paint gives the vehicle a dramatic look. Aside from a new (and expensive) set of wheels, no other upgrade can improve the appearance of your vehicle as much as tinting.
#2: Heat Rejection Depends on Film Design
Dyed, metallic and ceramic window tint films offer different heat-rejection capabilities. If you are concerned about keeping your vehicle or home cool, ask about ceramic tint. Our interactive heat-blocking demonstration will let you experience these differences quickly and easily.
#3: Dark Tint Doesn’t Always Block More Heat
A dark (5% VLT) dyed film may not block as much heat as a nearly clear (70% VLT) ceramic film. When you’re in our store, we’ll ask you questions about your heat-rejection expectations and base our film suggestions on your feedback.
#4: You Can Improve Electric Vehicle Range
Here in Florida, electric vehicles expend a great deal of battery capacity running the air conditioning system to keep the interior cool. A high-quality ceramic film can block more than two-thirds of the IR heat energy from the sun. The A/C system in your car won’t have to work as hard.
#5: Tinting Your Windshield is an Amazing Upgrade
In most vehicles, the windshield is the largest piece of glass in the vehicle. We offer 70% Visible Light Transmission (VLT) films that block half the IR energy from the sun to keep your vehicle cool. If you want a darker tint, 50% film lets you see safely.
#6: Window Tint Protects Your Vehicle Interior
All of the films we offer block more than 95% of the ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun. UV energy is what causes plastics to dry out and crack and upholstery to fade. Tinting the windows of your vehicle, home or business will help keep everything inside looking bright and vibrant for years.
#7: Window Tint Helps Prevent Skin Cancer
The same UV-blocking properties of our films that protect the vehicle also help protect your skin. UV energy causes wrinkling, blemishes and, in worst-case conditions, skin cancer. Having your windows tinted offers similar protection a lotion sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 600 to 1,000.
#8: Window Tint Cuts Glare
Have you noticed that it’s hard to see when the sun is shining in your side window? If you put your hand up beside your face to block the sun, you can see much more clearly. Window tint cuts down this annoying glare to make driving safer and more comfortable. This same benefit applies at night, where tint reduces annoying headlight glare in your rearview mirrors.
#9: Reduces Your Home Electric Bill
In the same way that heat-rejecting tint can improve the efficiency of your electric vehicle, blocking infrared energy from heating the interior of your home will save you money on air conditioning operating costs.
#10: Window Tint Plotter Cutting is Safer
We use a high-quality CNC plotter to cut all the window films we install. Using a plotter to cut the film pattern for each window means we don’t have to use a knife that could leave scratches in your glass or potentially cause damage to rubber seals and plastic trim pieces.
#11: Nationwide, No-Hassle Warranty
The warranty on your tint follows you, no matter where in the country you live. If there is a problem, contact the manufacturer, and they pay for the repairs. No runaround or hassles.
