Transforming a Classic: Upgrading a 1987 Ford Mustang GT with Modern Tech

At Audio Designs & Custom Graphics, we recently had the exciting opportunity to breathe new life into a classic 1987 Ford Mustang GT, owned by a passionate Ford enthusiast. One of the highlights of our upgrade was the installation of a Kenwood DMX8709S multimedia receiver. This state-of-the-art unit provides exceptional sound quality and seamless smartphone integration, making it easier than ever to enjoy your favorite music on the road.

To power this system, we installed a Diamond Audio Micro 5 amplifier, which drives Focal Audio PC 6.5” components in the front, delivering crystal-clear highs for an immersive audio experience. In the rear, we installed Focal Audio PC 5×7” coaxials, ensuring all passengers enjoy premium sound quality.

To enhance the depth of the audio, we incorporated a Diamond Audio DESMB8 subwoofer. This powerful subwoofer brings the bass that both classic rock and modern hits deserve, making every drive an exhilarating listening experience.

Beyond audio upgrades, we focused on enhancing safety and convenience by installing front and rear cameras. These provide improved visibility for parking and maneuvering in tight spaces, ensuring our client can navigate confidently in his Mustang.

We also equipped the vehicle with a Compustar Drone XC dash camera system, offering both front and rear monitoring. This system enhances vehicle security, providing peace of mind through real-time tracking and footage access.

The modernization didn’t stop at audio and safety. We added a Compustar keyless entry system with key fobs, allowing for easy access without the hassle of searching for keys. Additionally, a Firstech DC3 module was integrated, further enhancing the vehicle’s functionality.

To complement these upgrades, we dyed most of the interior panels black, giving the Mustang a sleek, cohesive look. We also performed a full detail, ensuring that this classic car not only sounds great but looks stunning as well.
