A client contacted Audio Designs and Custom Graphics in Jacksonville while researching a Ford Mustang graphics installation solution. We invited the owner to our store to discuss his plan for his Pony car. He had a clear vision of the graphic design and color he wanted to use. Installation Preparation and Measurement
We thoroughly wash and decontaminate the paint on any vehicle that will receive graphics. This process ensures the paint surface is perfectly smooth and that there are no bubbles under the vinyl. The next step is to begin measuring the vehicle to ensure that the graphics are perfectly symmetrical on both sides of the car. We use painter’s tape to make our markings and double-check everything from several reference points.
Some shops will try to cut graphics on a plotter or table, then install them on the vehicle. Because of the complex curves involved, pre-cut graphics never look right once installed. The second option is to apply the vinyl to the vehicle, then trim it to shape by eye. Cutting vinyl on a painted surface is as logical as performing nuclear experiments in your basement – it is going to end in catastrophic destruction.
Mustang Graphics: Perfect Every Time
The front hashmarks give the Mustang an even more aggressive look.
Once we have completed our measurements, we use a laser guide to locate the edge of the vinyl. We use Design Line tape between the measured marks, then apply the chosen color of vinyl. The client wanted Avery Metallic Autumn Maple for the hashmarks on the fenders.
Once the vinyl is applied, we pull on the tiny filament encased in the Design Line tape, and it cuts through the vinyl. We weed out the unwanted sections, and the task is complete.
Mustang Trunk Lid Accent Panel
The client asked us to fill in the area between the tail lights of his Mustang with a panel of the same Autumn Maple vinyl. This gorgeous red color picks up on the tail light, third brake light and license plate color to give the car a unique look.
It only took us a few hours to complete the installation of this Mustang graphics package. The client was impressed with how accurate our work was and how quickly we were able to accomplish the task. Both are a testament to our experience and the quality of the materials we use.
