Many of our clients here at Audio Designs and Custom Graphics in Jacksonville have been asking us to install vinyl roof wraps for them. Over the years, many vehicles have come with roofs that were painted in different colors from the bodies. From an elegant Rolls Royce Silver Shadow to the prestigious Range Rover, having an accent color can dramatically change the way your vehicle looks. The vinyl graphic design experts at Audio Designs and Custom Graphics would be happy to wrap your roof to achieve this same look, for a very reasonable investment. Let’s look at this awesome 2016 Lamborghini Huracan that we just finished.
Vinyl Wrap Design Process
The owner of this 2016 Huracan chose the amazing Rosso Mars metallic red finish and the Giano 20-inch Nero Lucido black wheels for his Coupe. The black front and rear lower fascia provide a great contrast against the gorgeous red paint. He asked us if we could wrap the roof and upper section of the engine cover to match the black accents. We suggested covering the mirrors as well.
Installation Process
With the vehicle cleaned and the paint surface prepared, our team applied 3M Design Line tape to the edges of the roof and windshield. While applying this knifeless tape is time-consuming, it eliminates the need to put a knife anywhere near the body of the vehicle to trim the vinyl. As careful as we are, we do not want to have to tell a customer we scratched his paint. This process eliminates that possibility.
Once the tape was in place, our team applied a single piece of Avery Dennison Gloss Black vinyl to the roof and windshield. We had to cover the windshield to cover the A-pillars in a single piece. We then trimmed away the excess using the Design Line tape.
The next step was to ensure all the edges were smooth and properly concealed for a seamless look. We wrapped the rearview mirrors and the red portion at the top of the engine cover in a similar process.
Vinyl Quality and Installation Technology
We use 3M and Avery Dennison vinyl, designed specifically for automotive vehicle wrapping. These vinyls include UV inhibitors to ensure they look great for years. The adhesive can withstand the intense temperatures of the Florida sun and the heat from engine compartments without releasing. We apply the film dry so no water will be trapped underneath that could cause mold or mildew to form. When we remove the film, your paint will be in the same condition as when we performed the installation.
Both Avery Dennison and 3M offer a variety of different vinyl colors in gloss, satin and matte finishes. We can provide Color Flip vinyl, or brushed metal and carbon fiber finishes. We even have a chrome film in many colors that look amazingly realistic.
