Not long ago, a local Jacksonville company contacted Audio Designs and Custom Graphics about installing a vehicle wrap on one of their delivery vans. As with most of our large graphics projects, our design team began with a template of the vehicle to be wrapped and worked with the client to ensure the graphics would look perfect once in installed. We can create very accurate renderings long before we ever consider printing anything onto vinyl.
Vehicle Wrap Installation Process
After the client approved the design, it was time to start the installation process. Our team cleaned the painted surfaces of the truck thoroughly and wiped down each panel to make sure there were no contaminants that would show up under the vinyl as bumps. We use clay bars as required to remove minor surface imperfections to ensure that the graphics will look flawless for the client.
With the vehicle prepared, we began the process of converting this yellow Ford van to red. We always use only the highest quality 3M vinyl. There are most certainly less expensive options, but when it comes to ensuring that a customer’s brand is represented properly, premium solutions look better for much longer. Cheap vinyl can change color as it’s stretched around complex shapes like the fenders of this truck. Inexpensive vinyl isn’t as colorfast under harsh UV conditions as premium solutions. Imagine paying for a wrap like this, only to have your truck look orange or pink next year.
Custom-Printed Vehicle Graphics
Once we finished applying the red vinyl, we started the process of printing the associated graphics. All the artwork is printed, then the ink is baked dry using our wide-format, 64-inch Mutoh industrial inkjet printer. With the ink dry, we applied a transparent film over top using our lamination machine to help prolong the life of the artwork. Executed properly, the graphics will look great for years as the delivery truck travels around the Jacksonville area.
