BMW Z4 Hydro-Dipped Interior For Orange Park Client

A client from Orange Park, Florida, came to Audio Designs & Custom Graphics with his 2006 BMW Z4, looking for a makeover on the interior trim. One of our team members went out to the client’s car and looked it over with him. He explained to us that he didn’t like the silver trim and that it had scratches and nicks on it. In simple terms, it looked bad and took away from an otherwise beautiful car. We spent significant time with him on going over his options for hydro-dipping those silver panels, and it always came back to woodgrain. He wanted a classy, European look to his vehicle’s interior, so he chose a color and the type of grain he liked, and we set him up with an appointment to do the work.

Refurbished OEM Panels Prepped For Hydro-Dipping

As we mentioned, the interior pieces were not perfect. It made more sense for us to repair the factory panels than to order new ones, just to change their color, so we took each and every panel and sanded them extensively. We then set about the task of filing in any of the imperfections and re-sanding the panels till they were perfectly smooth.

OEM Panels Primed, Hydro-Dipped, And Clear Coated

At that point, the panels got primered and then painted. Once the panels had dried and we were satisfied with the quality of the finish, the panels got dipped and then clear-coated. We use an automotive-grade clear coat so you can clean and wax our stuff just like the outside of your vehicle. As you can tell from the final pictures, the final product looked flawless.

The Right Way Is Not Always The Fastest Way

The only way to have a finish look this good is to properly prep all of the panels, and that takes time. On this vehicle, the total process took two days.
