Audio Designs & Custom Graphics is a firm believer in demo vehicles. If you want to show clients what they can do to their rides, the best way to do that is showing them completed work. It is expensive to build a demo vehicle, we feel it is worth the expense. We recently built a 2005 Audi A4 audio system to showcase our custom fabrication department which houses over $100k in the finest machinery and tools, and lets our skilled technicians create rolling works of art.

Sony Headunit Starts This Audi A4 Audio Upgrade

This build started out with a Sony MEX-XB100BT in-dash CD player with Bluetooth for hands-free and music streaming. It combines the highest-powered internal amplifier available in a head unit, with a USB port for control over all of your digital music library. The Sony unit has a great-quality preamp with multiple sets of outputs to feed amplifiers.

Hertz Amplifiers And Speakers For Clean Sound

The music travels to the trunk, where we installed two Hertz amplifiers. The Hertz HCP4 amp provides almost 300 watts of clean power to the two sets of component speakers tasked with reproducing everything but the bottom-end bass. We chose Hertz ESK-165L.5 6.5” components for this job, based on their blend of accuracy and detail. Another Hertz amp, model HCP1DK, provides over 1,000 watts of clean power to the subwoofers. You know this thing is gonna jam with that kind of power!

AudioMobile Subs For Impressive Bass In A Small Space

We used two AudioMobile 2212 Elite subwoofer in this application, as they have incredible, hard-hitting output from a very small enclosure.

CNC Machine Fabricated Trunk Panels

When it came time to build the trunk, we wanted the install to be something special. Our team at Audio Designs & Custom Graphics made a custom subwoofer enclosure, built to spec for the subwoofers, and then made a custom amp rack in the floor. Where the magic happens is in the custom trim panels we made in-house on our CNC machine. We wrapped the main panels in a brushed-metal–looking gold wrap that really made the trunk pop. The icing on the cake was the white LED backlighting that we hid behind the accent panels that made the equipment glow at night.

Rebuilt Rear Deck Allows For Subwoofer Venting

We rebuilt the rear deck with a custom pressed metal grille to allow the bass in the trunk to easily enter the interior compartment and yet keep the clean, classy look that only an Audi provides.

Stinger Installation Products

The whole interior received two layers of Stinger Roadkill to eliminate any possibility of vibration or rattling and to lower road noise. We installed a Stinger SPV70 high-performance battery, along with Stinger wiring, for all of the audio and power needs.
